Start with the construction
The PE sheets listed here use a woven HDPE base laminated on both sides with PE. For a PVC-coated alternative, ask its supplier to identify the base fabric, coating, finished weight and finish. Material labels alone do not establish strength or suitability.
Compare equivalent finished covers
Use the same finished dimensions, seams, reinforcement, fixing layout and handling conditions. Weigh the complete cover and assess lifting, folding and storage rather than assuming one plastic is always lighter or stronger.
Request evidence for the intended duty
Agree waterproofing, abrasion, UV exposure and any fire-test requirement. Ask for evidence covering the exact construction; do not transfer a test result or service-life claim between different products.
Use a sample before a bulk decision
For a truck or repeated outdoor use, review the sample against vehicle dimensions, sharp contact points, tie-down design and operator handling. Send a sample, photographs and order quantities for a PE specification review.
